LETTER OF THE MONTH
We are writing about the new BMX Park in the so-called 'Picnic Area' near Cadburys. Whilst Keynsham Town Council pat themselves on the back for another ingenious idea, have they stopped long enough to consider the safety implications? We now have children cycling up and down Station Road en route to the park on a blind bend, with little or no pavement and a stonking large wall.
Now don't get me wrong - I think it's a great idea that the youngsters now have somewhere to play, right next to the deserted woodland, near the river, railway and main road. My gripe is that someone will get seriously injured whilst using the facility. Any ambulance called to the scene will take 15 minutes to pull out of Avon Mill Lane, just as we all do, plus it won't be able to get under the 'anti-traveller' bar at the entrance to the site.
Why can't the council use a bit of nous - put the bloody track next to the Royal United Hospital in Bath, then we can save our emergency services for real call-outs, like old folk needing a lift to see relatives in care. How many kids did they consult before choosing to plonk it there. Only themselves I reckon.
Caroline and Mark Close, Keynsham.
• Well said folks. You win a Cane Shum T-shirt.
Hi from the wilds of Western Australia, just found your website via ThatBeBrisle. I hope to get all your later issues.
If you can send a 'Hello' to Ivor Stabbins who used to live in Caneshum about 40 years ago, I would like to hear from him if possible. Fanks in antispashun.
Jack Westcott, an old Bristolian.
• Cheers for the e-mail Jack. We had a look for Ivor but he wasn't down the Trout. Sorry.
Heh! What a site - better then your closest rival, who's site was resetted recently. What a surprise. I am a HAPPY resident of Keynsham on the evening, but during the day when you take a nice walk to the local high street, it is not so sunny and, ummm, nice. In fact it is hell! I think Keynsham has more old folk than anywhere. You risk your life dodgin' the scooters the old dears hurtle about on. Surely there should be a speed limit. I find it hard to leave the house during the day. Cheers.
A very worried resident, Keynsham.
On the About Us
page, you mention famous Keynsham people but you missed out funnyman and professional "troll-a-like" Bill Bailey. I'm sure I read somewhere he lived here, or drove through once, or looked it up on a map, or something...
Chandos Road Lazy Sod
• Correct! We will be attempting to get Bill to write for us soon.
A DRINK PROBLEM
How on earth did Interior Designs get best the Best Dressed Window In Town award? By far the most enthusiastic effort has to be Ballaarat's off licence. Back handers??
A local trader, Cane Shum.
• Can't say we actually look at the window when we're buying our boozy juice!
SORT IT OUT

The Caneshum Fanclub.
• Sorry folks, been working on the T-shirts. Apologies all. Are we forgiven yet?
